What exactly is a competence tool?
Today, we are going to touch a little on what we call the “Comaea Competence Tool”. We use our tool day in day out and tend to get caught up with ourselves sometimes - we have great belief in our tool (thus the loud proclamation of it being the “World’s Best” up there in the banner) - but we also realise that hey, it really is no point telling you how good it is, if we are not telling you what it is.
- A competence tool, also called a competence management tool, is any kind of software that help organisations manage the competencies of their human capital or employees.
- Comaea's software is a web-based solution, meaning that there is no installations required and all that is needed is a web browser and internet connection.
- The importance of human capital cannot be emphasised enough especially in knowledge-based organisations, thus the proper management of human capital is of similar importance. This includes more than just the administrative management; the management of the "invisibles" - competencies, skill sets, knowledge and experience is integral too.
- Here is where a competence tool comes in handy: by having a tool that can assess your organisation's competencies, suddenly the "invisibles" become "visiible" in terms of numbers, statistics and figures.
